Hallo everyone. We are planning an ERP upgrade this year from R3 4.7 to ECC6. I am responsible for SAP basis and security at our company (smallish implementation). My question for those that have gone through this process:

• What were the areas that changed the most from one verion to the next in terms of basis and security?
• Do you feel that training in those areas are neccesary, or is the changes so suttle that you quickly pick it up?
• Do you have recommendations on course numbers if you feel like training will really help?

I have 7 to 8 years basis and security experience on our system , which is R3 4.7, and did the initial install and configuration of the landscape. Our system is MS Windows and MS SQL based.

I have encountered an error  Last error code set: Archive '/EHP6/EHP6upg/KGPAD18.SAR.part' is not readable in the phase  PREP_PRE_CHECK/SCANDIR_EPS0! .I am not sure why it is trying to read KGPAD18.SAR.part when the actual file is KGPAD18.SAR .I tried Redownloading the package and placing it in the download directory but it wasn't of any help .Then i replaced the SAPCAR tool in the SUM/abap/bin folder even that has not resolved the issue.This is an AIX-64 bit machine.Any pointer is really appreciated.

I'm trying to create an user (SU01) but i cannot achieve authorize it to use the transations.

For example. I have create the user as a copy of my user. I have delete the profiles SAP_ALL and SAP_NEW and I've indicate the profile M_ALL with the corresponding Roles. When I enter in the system with the new user and try to enter to, for example, TR MM03 or MD04 or MD02, the systems shows me the following message "You are not authorized to use transaction MM02".

In the phase Prep_extension/IS_SELECT  i have three options for moving ahead with VIRSA add on.

1) upgrade to the latest version of VIRSA .

2) keep the same version

3) delete the package.

Here are the issue i have with each one of them

1) I am unable to find the patch in the Service market place .when i search for VIRSANH 530_731 i do not get any results.I searched for the same using some other clients Id and i got the software.But when i place it in the EPS/in folder and continue the upgrade pocess,It is not able to find it in the directory

2) For keeping the same version we need a vendor key which is not available for EHP 6 upgrade.

3) for deleting the package also it requires  a package in EPS/in which is not available .I checked for it in the SMP it is unavailable.

The current VIRSA Version is VIRSA 400_700.

Kindly provide any pointers for solving this issue.

For SAP Upgrade from ECC 5.0 to ECC 6.0 and during pre upgrade activity i'm getting error UMG_PMIG_PREP_JOB Cancelled.After checking details this background job cancelled with error IMPORT_FORMAT_ERROR.

When attempting to IMPORT the object "STA", there was a format error.

Unable to read an IMPORT dataset.

The dataset may have been processed using SQL and is

thus no longer readable for the IMPORT.

Under ST22 dump created as attached.For resolution followed SAP Note : 542302

Please support me to resolve the same.

Hello - I'm currently involved in a project that is rolling out a n+1 landscape.  The landscape will look like this:

MNT (maintenance): DEV --> QAS --> PRD

PRJ (project): DEV --> QAS

The project landscape is going to be upgraded to newer enhancement packs and Netweaver versions.  As an example, the maintenance landscape might be on Netweaver 7.30 and the project landscape on 7.40 (not real, just an example).  In a situation like this, how are ABAP code and config changes managed or retrofitted across the two landscapes?

I've been investigating Solution Manager Retrofit as a possible tool to help, but I don't think it will work in this scenario.  Can anyone help provide some high level guidance?

We have to upgrade our system based on ECC6 EHP4/NW701 to ECC6 EHP7.

In MOPZ when select the solution, i can see products EHP4 for ECC6/NW701 and also as ERP ECC6.

so when i select product as ECC6, i can generate stack.xml but i cannot find BI_CONT component. and during upgrade i got an error from this side (upgrade ask for BI_CONT 746).

When select i select ECC6 EHP4 /NW701 the upgrade option not visible.

So how i have to generate stack.xml?

     We want to Upgrade our PLM system from NWBC 731 to NWBC 740, for this it is better to have a SANBOX system to upgrade there first the NWBC740 and do some tests. And if everything is in order to Upgrade in the same time the DEV and TEST system?

     Do you now a better way to do such an upgrade?

I have a problem with external sort used in the program. due to that report output records are not in the same order.

For example, i am extracting data from BSEG with fields company code, fiscal year, document no, item no, amount and GL Respectively.

in both the systems (R/3 4.7 and ECC6), data in internal tables are in same order by default.

but after the external sort using filelds company code, fiscal year and document no.

output records are sorted exactly with respect to the external sort order in both systems, but for certain line items are not in same order.

Now the user wants the files in EXCEL format.

I had checked in SCOT and doesn't found any useful setting that will make the required changes.

Any other suggestion ?

Hi Sir,

After all the above works i have noticed that the DMS files are storing in the global directory location ( usr/sap/PRD/SYS/global).

Is there any possibility to take the backup of the global directory to safe the documents periodically from any external damage/crash.

If it can be done please suggest me some suggestions how to do it.

I planed system copy for this activity but i stuck on step "setup database server software" with some error.

I am facing an issue in the ECC 6.0 to ECC 6 EHP 6 upgrade during the phase  MAIN_SHDRUN/PARDIST_SHD.The database is Oracle.

Following is the error log

Dear Gurus,

We have recently encountered the error in ECC 6.0 during the invoice

in which we did not encounter in 4.6C.

<b>ECC 6.0:</b>

We have created a PO with tax Code as "II". When we do invoice for this

PO using Tcode: MIRO, tax code "PA" is populated in invoice header from

the configuration & tax code "II" is populated in invoice item from PO.

When we try to post the invoice we encounter the error stating that

"Tax code PA also exists".

4.6C:

In 4.6C we can be able to post the invoice without any error for the

above mentioned scenario.Then we wrote this issue to OSS asking them help to resolve this issue.

SAP said that,

Behavior of system in ECC 6.0: is correct and they asked us to refer the following

attached note which explains the same that system should throw the

message FF812 if header tax code is not present in any line item.

Regarding the behaviour in 4.6C in, this is due to missing of following attached note.754074 MIRO: Missing error message FF812

After the answer from SAP we concluded the following:

(1). Behavior of system in ECC 6.0 is correct, I mean triggering the error when the 

      tax code difference in header and item.

(2). Behaviour of system in 4.6C is wrong, since we missed out to implement the 

      OSS note.That's why it does not trigger any error message.

<b>

Question:</b>

(1). Now the users encounter error in ECC 6.0 when they post the invoice, b'cas the header and item tax code is difference.

What is the best to way to overcome this issue.I mean without error how to post the invoice?..Your earliest help will be greatly appreciateble.
