Isolate CI(primary application server)

I know to check the checkbox to update dialog instance(additional application servers) during the configuration phase to upgrade dialog instances as part of EHP upgrade however before downtime when I am asked to isolate the primary application server, the guide states "Shut down all application servers, if necessary (secondary SAP instances)."  I would shut the application servers down for SUM to update and bring them up at the end of the downtime. Can someone advise what clause applies to shutdown if necessary as this statement seem ambiguous to me. We are anyway stopping jobs, users, interfaces from doing anything in production during downtime so I am wondering what could be the possible reason why the application servers can remain running within this clause. Can any one shed some light and your experiences in this regard.  I plan to shut them down when isolating PAS and let SUM update them as part of downtime. Does any one differ on this at all.

SAP installation requirement

Hi,

 

This is Vinay. I am learning SAP now and  i want purchase laptop. My preference is Sony, but one of my friends told that sony is not compatible with SAP installation(demo for practice)

 

Could any one please suggest that is SONY is good for SAP installation ECC 6.0. Is it compatible? Will I get any other problems in future if i go with SONY.

 

The reason behind SONY is my second preference is Photography editing purpose.

shadow system during system upgrade

Hi All,

 

I am new to upgrade.I would like to know about Shadow System, how it will be created, what happens during the switch between the shadow and original system.

 

I had read the following blog which helped me to get clarity in the introduction part.

Technical vs functional Upgrade

Hi guys,

 

i know, that a similar question had already been asked, but i didnt found the answer  satisfying . Does Technical Upgrade mean that no Transaction will be activated?

 

Which kind of testing have to be performed for a technical  upgrade

 

Is it enough to test  only the transactions of SPAU and UCIA lists.

 

how are your experience to reduce the scope of testing

SAP ERP 6.0 EHP7 upgrade optimal resources

Hi,

 

        I am performing EHP7 up gradation on SAP ERP 6.0.

 

SYSTEM H/W: 8 CPU's   50 GB RAM

 

OS : windows server 2008 R2

 

DB: oracle 11.2.0.5.0

 

SAP source release : ERP 6.0

 

SAP target release : ERP 6.0 including EHP 7

 

 

     I have performed above said activity on test system / development system / quality system /production system. The time to complete different systems varied beyond my expected/planned values.

 

     I understood that there are users logged into production system till pre processing stage of SUM tool.So the long running phases (ACT_UPG , SHADOW_IMPORT , etc ) took approximately double the time than other systems.

 

     May i know various other other reasons ,for productions system , which reduces performance (in terms of run time).Is there any ways to improve performance (in terms of run time) .

    

     I have increased R3trans processes,Batch process to higher values during configuration phase of SUM tool.What are the optimal values which can be given in for fast upgrade.

     We are upgrading SAP ERP 6.0 to SAP ERP 6.0 including EHP7 .My doubt is that can we perform client copy during the up gradation process. It would be grateful for your answers with justifications / suggestions.

Hi Frineds,

 

We are upgrading our erp system from EHP4 to EHP7 and we are in congifuration stage and we are getting error in phase PREP_EXTENSION/TR_CMDIMPORT_PREPARE!

 

please seee below error

 

Last error code set: Cannot append to 'D:\usr\sap\SUM\abap\log\STORE2BUFFER.ECO': Access is denied. <br/>

 

i checked in log folder this file STORE2BUFFER.ECO' do not exist, we have given full permission to sidadm.

How to Uninstall and Install Enque Server and Enque Server?

Hi Experts,

 

Just wanted to know the procedure of uninstalling and installation of enqueue server. Because After the upgrade SAP says you need to uninstall and then then install enqueue server but does provided steps on how to proceed.

 

Actually We are in process of upgrading our system which is on High Availability plus there 2 enqueue server and one of them replication server.

 

So just wanted to know the procedure.

Hi friends,

 

We are using SAP EHP3 on widows cluster with 2 nodes with mssql 2005 sp3 database.

 

we are planing to upgrade my database from mssql 2005sp3 to mssql 2008r2 .

 

At the same time we are planing to rebuilt our windows cluster .

 

please let me clarify below points.

 

1)How to install mssql 2005sp3 on windows cluster.

2)How to restore my backup on cluster.

3)how to perform system copy on windows cluster with 2 nodes.

4)what are the steps need to follow.

5)If any one performed this activity please share documents.

 

Its high priority activity in my Production.

Upgrade Installation on Node 2 in clustered

Dear Expert,

 

We are in process of upgrading our ERP 6.0 to EHP 7 in Microsoft Cluster Environment.

 

My Question How to upgrade dialog instance on Node 2 which is on 7.20 Kernel and wanted to upgrade on 7.41. If upgrade is not possible is there a way to reinstall 7.41 on 7.20 or any other solution like coping any folder on the node 2 that would make it work.

The executable R3trans in /usr/sap/SID/SUM/abap/exe is too old.

Hi all,

 

 

I am doing SAP EHP5 to EHP7 upgrade using SUM10. In Extraction phase am getting the error, "

The executable R3trans in /usr/sap/SID/SUM/abap/exe is too old. It needs a release date of 06.06.14 or later".

 

R3trans and TP : I tried with 721 and 741 both, when I extract 721 R3trans its shows release 721 - 10.06.14 which is the later release date of 06.06.14, and when I continue the installation and am still getting the same error. After that I checked again using ./R3trans and it says 04.02.14.

Kernel : 721_EXT

 

Also I tried with 741 Kernel as well.

OS: Linux SLES-11 x86_64

SAP ECC6 EHP7 Kernel 7.41.. SM04

Dear All,

 

Recently we have upgraded our ECC system to EHP7 and kernel 7.41. I was just surprised to see SM04 and could not figure out how to see memory consumption by a users in each of its sessions.

 

Earlier we used to select user in SM04 and the goto --> memory system wide then it displayed the same.

 

Can anybody suggest how to achieve in this new kernel ? Or is there any other tcode for the same.

Tcode MIGO Background Job Not working

Hi All,

 

I am facing problem in TCode : MIGO for Background JOB of BDC Program with below details,

 

CALL_TRANSACTION MIGO returncode: 1,001  RECORD:          0

MIGO                 017 S

The front end is not suitable for the transaction (see long text)

DC                   006 S

Control Framework: Fatal error - GUI cannot be reached

00                   341 A

Runtime error RAISE_EXCEPTION has occurred

 

Please let me know above error what needs to be done.
